Day 1 - Tuesday 6th October, 2020
• Explore the principles of investigative interviewing
• Learn how to plan strategically
• Understand and discuss the tactical use of evidence
- Meet fellow investigator peers and discuss the use of EE and ER
In this interactive breakout attendees will interview a fellow participant within a 3 minute timeframe then swap. The objectives of the interview will be provided moments prior to commencement. After the breakout session attendees will come back together and the Interviewer (ER) will introduce the interviewee (EE), followed by discussion on attendee learning goals.

• Factors to consider when conducting an investigation
• Discussion on ethical interviewing
- Why is memory important to an interviewer (ER)?
• An in depth look at the Interviewing Framework
• Cognitive interviewing and conversation management
- Effective strategies and methods of planning
Using lessons learned from Module One and the frameworks
provided, attendees will structure an effective investigation plan to
be presented and discussed in Module Two.
Day 2 - Thursday 8th October, 2020

Transitioning through the interview
Each attendee will have the opportunity to share their interview
plans and how it could be applied in their organisational context,
with guidance, support and feedback from Karl Day.
• Group learning from each other’s plans
• Fine tuning the transitional points

• Discuss the compare and contrast phase during conversation management
• Explore the use of evidence vs systemic use of evidence in an interview
• Discuss communication and the delivery of questions
