Fiona is an experienced educator at Ravenswood School for Girls, where she leads the Learning Enrichment Department (Prep-12) and oversees the Research Program. Fiona’s work focuses on building the capacities of teachers, students, and parents to cultivate a culture where all students can experience success socially, emotionally, and academically. Drawing on research from the field of Mind, Brain, and Education Science (MBE), and collaborating with her team and a range of external specialists, Fiona works to enhance the understanding of how students learn, address learning variability, and support neurodiversity in her school. She is dedicated to identifying and implementing best teaching practices that promote inclusive and supportive learning environments and opportunities.
She has cultivated partnerships with leading institutions in the science of learning, including the school-based research centre, the Centre of Transformative Teaching and Learning (CTTL) in Washington DC, and Queensland University (UQ) Learning Lab through its School Partnership Program. Over the last four years, she has overseen a team of teachers exploring curiosity in the classroom in collaboration with UQ, led the School’s MBE Professional Learning Team and recently presented at the International Mind Brain and Education Conference, Leuven as part of a team symposium with UQ on ‘Advancing knowledge and Practice: Building Collaborative Communities between Research and Practice’. Currently an EdD Candidate in Educational Psychology from the University of New South Wales, Fiona is passionate about fostering a love of learning, nurturing curiosity, and championing diversity.
