Stephen Hall grew up in Northwest Tasmania and studied law at the University of Tasmania. He was admitted in 1994 and has worked as a general litigation lawyer in private practice, in the community (non-profit) legal sector, as Principal Lawyer for the Tasmanian Environmental Defenders Office, and currently works in the Tasmanian Government bureaucracy.  Stephen also holds a Master of Arts and taught tertiary courses in law and politics at James Cook University (QLD) and the University of Tasmania.  

Stephen’s current role is Principal Adviser (Legal Services) in the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania, which administers animal welfare, biosecurity, environmental and primary industries related legislation.
