Kate Gleeson is a Professor of Criminology in the School of International Studies and an Executive Committee member of the Macquarie University Ethics and Agency Research Centre. Kate studied for her PhD in Politics and International Relations at the University of New South Wales, including time spent studying as a Chevening Scholar in the Department of Academic Legal Studies at Nottingham Trent University in the UK. She has held prestigious research fellowships in both politics and law at Macquarie University.
Kate serves as an executive board member of Women’s Legal Service NSW and Women’s Justice Network. She has previously served as an executive board member of the Australian Political Studies Association, a board member of Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia (RDVSA), and Chair of Full Stop Australia. Prior to her academic career Kate worked at a number of public sector and development agencies in Australia and Vietnam. Kate is currently an investigator on a large cross-country study of coercive control and public opinion.
