Annabelle Butler has spent a large part of her career working to improve outcomes for consumers, with a focus on general insurance, product and system design and the use of regulation to create sustainable solutions. Her work in insurance includes the development of ‘conduct of others’ clauses in consumer insurances to enable fair and equitable access to indemnity where the damage is caused by another family member (such as in domestic violence cases), and the establishment of hardship policies and practices for the general insurance industry. Annabelle chaired the General Insurance National Code Committee from 2011 – 2022 and has acted as a panel member for AFCA in matters relating to general insurance.
