With a particularly strong focus on young people, the socially isolated and individuals with extremely complex life challenges, Carla believes that a combination of creative ideas and relationship building supports people in striving to create their own positive futures. Carla approaches her work with a practice-based background of case work, coaching, collaboration, management, partnership building, project development, as well as strategic planning and delivery.

Carla is TACSI’s strategic lead for our action area, the Future of Mental Health. This portfolio of work has supported us to cultivate and share deep learnings about how our services and community are equally a part of improving the current system and building the system for the future that supports the broadest social health of people and places.

Carla and a number of TACSI colleagues have worked closely with Brisbane South PHN to design and develop the Recognise, Respond, Refer program (RRR) program, which brings together primary health care professionals and specialist DFV services to improve outcomes for people presenting to general practices who have or who are experiencing family, domestic and sexual violence, and to connect them with the right supports. We have also supported the additional 11 PHNS who are also adopting, adapting and implementing this program
