Carly Jia is a highly esteemed education leader with a wealth of experience spanning over 19 years in key leadership positions at international, national, and regional levels. Hailing from Far North Queensland as a Yidinji, Badulaig, and Meriam woman, Carly is deeply committed to leveraging education as a catalyst for progress and opportunities. She actively promotes the significance of Indigenous knowledge in enhancing educational outcomes.
In her capacity as a senior public servant, Carly has been instrumental in offering strategic guidance and technical expertise on intricate education policies and initiatives to high-level decision-makers and stakeholders in the education sector.
Previously, in her role as the Senior Advisor for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education at the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, Carly spearheaded the ‘Building a culturally responsive Australian teaching workforce project’. By collaborating with Indigenous education experts and professionals, she led efforts to assess, analyze, and present recommendations focused on enhancing student outcomes through the development of intercultural responsiveness.
An accomplished author, Carly is also a respected member of various boards and advisory committees. She holds a Master of Education and a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Education from QUT, showcasing her dedication to continuous learning and advancement in the field of education.
