Cathy Fussell is an Australian Government public servant and Sir Roland Wilson PhD scholar at ANU’s Crawford School of Public Policy. Her research focuses on how governments can realise the value of data by rethinking value and power in light of complexity theory. She has over 20 years of experience in the Australian Government, with a focus on data strategy and capability development. Prior to her PhD, Cathy led the Department of Health’s cross-portfolio engagement on big data analytics projects through the Data Integration Partnership for Australia. This included co‑leading the Social Health and Welfare Analytic Unit.
