Courtney is a proud Butchulla and Gubbi Gubbi woman from Queensland’s Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast region, and is the General Manager of First Nations Football at Football Australia. With a background in community engagement roles in sport, including stints with the Queer Sporting Alliance and Cricket Australia, Courtney’s advocacy for marginalized groups earned her recognition, including nominations for Out Role Model of the Year at the 2021 Australian Pride in Sport Awards and Changemaker of the Year at the ‘Out for Australia’ 30 under 30 awards in 2020. Courtney’s extensive work covering diverse sports and voices for publication on Siren Sport showcases her passion and expertise in diversity, equity, and social justice. A recent graduate of Monash University’s Master of Indigenous Business Leadership program, Courtney was appointed to a panel position with FIFA to lead an all-women First Nations and Māori Cultural Advisory Panel for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, focusing on the planning and implementation of First Nations culture and celebration.
