Dai Trang Le is the Independent Federal Member for Fowler, a division that was named after Lilian Fowler, the first female mayor in Australia.
Dai, her sisters and Mother survived the Vietnam War escaping communism in April 175, and spent years in refugee camps in Southeast Asia before being resettled in Australia in December 1979.
She worked as a journalist for the Liverpool and Fairfield Champion and continued pursuing her love for storytelling with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. After decades reporting on the stories that impacted her community, Dai stepped into the world of politics in 2012 where she was elected to Fairfield City Council.
In May 2022, Dai took a leap of faith and entered the Federal election race and became the first woman of Vietnamese refugee heritage to win the safest Labor seat of Fowler.
