Dr Venesser Fernandes is Senior Lecturer in Educational Leadership and Improvement Studies in the Faculty of Education, Monash University, Australia. She contributes to the Master of Educational Leadership and Education programs and actively supervises doctoral students.
Her research and teaching interests include educational leadership and improvement, data-informed decision-making, organisational change, social-emotional learning, and social justice within education. Her research includes leading studies on principal adaptability and agility during crises such as COVID-19, and on leadership in data utilisation and evidence-based decision-making across school systems in Victoria and Queensland.
Dr Fernandes consults with schools locally and internationally on leveraging data to improve schools and support student and staff well-being. She has been involved in principal preparation initiatives in collaboration with Monash University and the Victorian Department of Education. Venesser is the Youth Leadership Chair for the Commonwealth Council for Ed
