Harriet Whyte (she/her) is a 33-year-old country girl from the Riverina, currently living in Newcastle, NSW with her wife and dog. For her day job, Harriet works for the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development as the Executive Director, Regional Programs and Partnerships. In this role, Harriet is responsible for a range of community, cross-border, youth, infrastructure and recovery programs delivered in partnership with all levels of government and community, youth, and Aboriginal organisations. Her background is in international relations and public policy, and she has worked in various roles across NSW Government since 2016. Â
Outside of work, Harriet is on the board of Out for Australia and Women’s Community Shelters. She is a passionate believer that all young people should feel empowered to bring their authentic selves to workplaces that celebrate diversity, and everyone should have a safe place to call home. Her favourite hobbies include hosting her monthly Wine Club with friends, watching sports (AFL in particular), hanging out with her wife and dog, and travelling around regional NSW as much as possible.
