Judge Hughes holds degrees in economics and law from the Australian National University. Before her appointment to the Court in 2006 she had worked for 16 years in the areas of criminal law, family law, family violence order proceedings, and child protection. She is currently the Chair of the Court’s Family Violence Committee.
