Kate Houghton is the Secretary of the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Kate has more than 25 years’ experience in both the NSW and Victorian Public Service. Kate has held senior executive roles in various portfolios from Police and Crime Prevention, Health, Water and Catchments and Environmental Policy. Prior to becoming Secretary, her most recent role was as Deputy Secretary of Social Policy and Intergovernmental Relations at the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Kate has an Honours Degree in Economics, and a Masters of Environment and is an IPPA fellow. She was awarded a Public Service Medal in 2022 for outstanding public service to policy and program delivery in Victoria.
