Latoya Aroha Rule is a Takatāpui (Queer), Wiradjuri & Te Ātiawa Research Associate & PhD Candidate at Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education & Research, the University of Technology Sydney. Following the death in custody of their elder brother Wayne Fella Morrison, Latoya established the national ban spit hoods coalition which has thus far seen legislative bans on the torture device in multiple jurisdictions, alongside opening conversation for further anti-torture reforms.
