Marie Jackson has been in the role of Assistant Secretary, Regional Services for the Department of Defence since 2020. She is responsible for the defence bases in Northern Australia.
Marie has held leadership roles at varying levels for 30 years, her experience covers disaster management, project and program management and change management, she also has passion for turning around poor performing teams and services. Marie has worked in a variety of environments which include IT (information technology), Digital Transformation, Building and Construction, Contact Centres and of course, military.
Marie and her teams have received numerous organisational and industry awards over the years, and in recognition of her work managing disasters during the 2010/11 floods and Cyclone Yasi, she was invited to meet Queen Elizabeth II. In 2020, Marie received a Gold Public Service Medal for her leadership through COVID, Bushfires, Floods and military exercises, enabling the Australian Defence Force to achieve their mission during a particularly challenging period.
On a personal note, Marie is married to a serving member of the Army, and together, they have 6 children (the 3 youngest reside with them permanently).
