I have worked in Aboriginal Affairs for some 40 years visiting communities between Broome and Darwin in North Australia. I worked for Government and non-government organisations in various positions providing grant administration and project management. I am the founder and counsellor of Darwin Indigenous Men’s Service (DIMS). I worked in the Family Violence area since 2000 in Broome Men’s Outreach Service, and from 2005-2023 with Darwin Aboriginal & Islander Women’s Shelter and DIMS. My duties include counselling, mentoring, family violence counselling and education, relationships education, cultural healing activities, designing, delivering and evaluating programs and project management. I use Western and Indigenous models for healing Indigenous men. I believe that supporting men to heal first, is the way forward in developing and maintaining safe relationships and families.Â
