Geoff Masters AO was head of the Australian Council for Educational Research from 1998 to 2024. His contributions to education have been recognised through his appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia. He led an international study of high-performing school systems for the US National Center on Education and the Economy and is author of the book The Children We Leave Behind: How School Could Be Done Differently (Routledge, 2026).
