Matt Bower is a Professor of Educational Technology in the School of Education at Macquarie University. His work focuses on how contemporary and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Immersive Virtual Reality, Wearable Technologies and so on can be used to enhance learning outcomes and processes. Matt is Chair of the Australian Technologies Teacher Educators Network, has won multiple national and international awards for his research and teaching. Matt was a member of the national AI in Education taskforce that designed the Australian Framework for Generative AI in Schools, and is currently embarking on a number of research projects relating to innovative uses of generative Artificial Intelligence by teachers and students. Drawing on recent research and latest developments in the AI field, Professor Bower will discuss how recent advancements in generative AI require us to rethink what students learn, how teachers teach, how we assess, and our beliefs and attitudes surrounding education itself.
