Dr Rizsa Albarracin leads the climate risk and adaptation work of Queensland Health’s Office of Hospital Sustainability. She played a key role in the development of Queensland Health’s Climate Risk Strategy and the roll out of the climate adaptation planning guidelines for the Hospital and Health Services.
Rizsa also devotes her time to managing a not-for-profit organisation with a primary focus on improving the lives of many disadvantaged children and marginalised communities in Southeast Asia. Her current projects include a children’s shelter, a mobile medical clinic, scholarships, and sustainability projects.
Rizsa is a trained vision neuroscientist and has published several journal articles and book chapters in this area of research. Prior to joining Queensland Health in 2017, Rizsa held positions at the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care and the Australian National University.
