The majority of older people in aged care will have experienced significant trauma, loss or grief at some point in their lives which can pervasively affect their physical and mental wellbeing, behaviour and engagement with aged care providers. Aged care providers need to have a trauma-informed approach to care which acknowledges these experiences in order to provide quality person-centred care to older people.

This workshop will unpack the core principles of trauma-informed care and provide a practical guide to integrating a trauma-informed approach to care. You will be equipped with the necessary awareness, skills and tools to adopt and apply a trauma-informed approach in your organisation in order to improve the holistic wellbeing of older people in care and deliver quality person-centred care.
