Tom holds a Bachelor of Social Science and has worked in front line child protection for over 20 years, holding roles ranging from Team Leader, Senior Practitioner and Manager with the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women in Brisbane.
Tom has acted in senior executive roles throughout South East Queensland including Regional Director (Brisbane, Logan, Toowoomba and Western Queensland) and Director of Placement and Support Services in Brisbane. He also worked as an Executive Officer to two Director-Generals and was Departmental Liaison Officer to two Ministers for Child Safety.
After four years as Regional Director for Brisbane, Sunshine Cost and Moreton Bay at Act for Kids, Tom has taken on the role of National Education Director and commencing Act to Educate. Act to Educate is one of Act for Kids’ innovative services, providing evidence-based and specialist professional development to a wide range of health, educational and community services across Australia. Act to Educate builds off Acts for Kids’ 30 years of experience in delivering therapeutic services to children and support services to families (last year alone helping over 46,000 people), in order to create the opportunity to achieve impact and positive outcomes to vulnerable children, young people and families.
