Submissions Now Open for Inaugural Awards Recognising Achievement in Inclusive Excellence and Outstanding Intersectional Work Across the APS

The Hatchery in partnership with the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership have launched the inaugural Leadership Excellence & Distinction (L.E.A.D) Awards for the Australian Public Service.

These awards celebrate innovative, impactful, and resourceful solutions implemented across the APS that have driven meaningful change in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Submissions are open until 5 July 2024, in the following categories:

• Outstanding Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy for organisations
• Outstanding Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Innovation for teams
• Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Champion for individuals

An esteemed panel of judges will review the nominations, including:

• Prof Michelle Ryan, Professor of Social and Organisational Psychology & Director, Global Institute for Women’s Leadership, The Australian National University
• Rebecca Skinner PSM, Former Chief Executive Officer, Services Australia
• Dr Rachel Bacon, Deputy Commissioner, Integrity, Reform, and Enabling Services, Australian Public Service Commission
• Jody Broun, CEO, National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA)
• Justine Greig PSM, Deputy Secretary Defence People, Department of Defence

The winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner on August 28, 2024, in Canberra, during the Public Sector Women in Leadership Summit. This event will also feature three former female world leaders, who will share their unique insights on leadership lessons, tackling challenges head-on, promoting intersectionality and empowering women, realising and utilising your power to drive change, and leaving a lasting legacy.
