In conversation with Poh, one of Australia’s most loved celebrity chefs on overcoming imposter syndrome, staying true to yourself, leaning into your cultural identity, to find purpose and passion. Poh delves into the profound connection between her culinary creations and her rich heritage. As a fifth-generation Chinese Malaysian, Poh’s journey with food began as a means to reconcile her cultural roots with her Western upbringing. She shares how, after years of trying to assimilate and shedding her unique identity, she discovered in her 30s that food is the key to reconnecting with her ancestry.

“Attending this conference gave me so much exposure to new ideas, affirmed some thoughts I had about my exclusion, and really helped me connect with women I hope I can learn more from in the future. I would really recommend this to anyone who wants to hear from people really making a difference, and to see what intersectionality and inclusion actually looks like.”
Project Officer, Monash
“The atmosphere was charged with a unique blend of inspiration and resilience, creating an empowering and enlightening space. The resilience of these women was awe-inspiring; their determination to succeed despite professional challenges was evident and their stories of overcoming adversities reminded us of the inner strength within us all”
