Michael Kirby is an international jurist, educator and former judge. He served as a Deputy President of the Australian Conciliation and Arbitration Commission (1975-83); Chairman of the Australian Law Reform Commission (1975-84); Judge of the Federal Court of Australia (1983-4); President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal (1984-96); President of the Court of Appeal of Solomon Islands (1995-96) and Justice of the High Court of Australia (1996-2009).

He has undertaken many international activities for the United Nations, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the OECD and the Global Fund Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. He has also worked in civil society, being elected President of the International Commission of Jurists (1995-8). His recent international activities have included member of the Eminent Persons Group on the Future of the Commonwealth of Nations (2010-11); Commissioner of the UNDP Global Commission on HIV and the Law (2011-12); Chairman of the UN Commission of Inquiry on DPRK (North Korea) (2013-14); and Member of the UN Secretary-General’s High Level Panel on Access to Essential Healthcare (2015-16). He is also heavily engaged in international arbitrations; domestic mediations; and teaching law. He is Honorary Professor at 12 Australian and overseas universities.

In 1991 he was awarded the Australian Human Rights Medal. In 1998, he was named Laurette of the UNESCO Prize for Human Rights Education. In 2010 he was named co-winner of the Gruber Justice Prize. In 2011 he received the inaugural Australian Privacy Medal. The honorary degrees of Doctor of Letters, Doctor of Laws and Doctor of the University have been conferred on him by universities in Australia and overseas. He lives in Sydney with his partner since 1969, Johan van Vloten.

Budi is the founder and Director of Ananda Training and Consultancy, a community advocate, and a sexual health researcher. Budi has been involved with Melbourne’s LGBTQIA+ communities for over 20 years, and has continued to use their academic knowledge, professional expertise, and lived and living experiences to advocate for intersectionality, equity, and justice. Budi is passionate about ensuring that inclusion covers all people, and is committed to influence positive change among the LGBTQIA+, ethnic, and faith communities to ensure that multicultural and multifaith LGBTQIA+ can embrace all aspects of their identities without prejudice and discrimination. Budi is a contributing author of Living and Loving in Diversity, an anthology that celebrates Australia’s multicultural and multifaith LGBTQIA+ communities.

Georgie has significant and broad-ranging leadership, policy and service delivery experience in the community, public and private sectors. Georgie was appointed as the CEO of beyondblue in May 2014 where she has led a significant expansion of effort and results in service innovation, suicide prevention and digital solutions. Previously, she helped set up and was the Deputy CEO of the National Mental Health Commission, providing independent advice to government on reform.

From 2006-2012, Georgie had national responsibility for mental health, suicide prevention, substance misuse, cancer and chronic disease policy and programs as a senior executive at the Commonwealth Department of Health. She led the development of a significant whole of government mental health Budget package and the strategy and development of legislation to introduce plain packaging of tobacco products in Australia – a world first. Georgie has also led national reforms to lift Australia’s organ and tissue donation rates and worked in the HIV/AIDS sector in Australia and the UK.

Greta Doherty (she/her) is the acting Group Manager, Women’s Safety, at the Department of Social Services (DSS), where she is responsible for development and delivery of the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032 as well as key Commonwealth programs such as 1800RESPECT. She is also the Senior Executive Pride Ally Champion.

Prior to joining the DSS, Greta worked in a range of roles in the Education portfolio for almost a decade, including in higher education policy, infrastructure funding, research policy, early childhood and childcare legislative reform and international education. She also worked at the Department of Finance and Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Greta has a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Asian Studies (Hons) and Master of Public Policy, all from the Australian National University.

Simon Cotterell is the First Assistant Secretary of the Primary Care Division in the Department of Health. Simon has worked for nearly 30 years in government. Over the last 15 years in Health, Simon has led work on health payments integrity; global and regional health issues; drug, alcohol and tobacco policy; health financing; health security; the blood supply; organ and tissue donation; and a range of other health system issues.

Prior to Health, Simon worked for a decade as a policy adviser in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in various areas of social policy and international relations.

Simon has qualifications in political science and economics, and was awarded a Public Service Medal in 2012 for his work on tobacco plain packaging and tobacco control in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Gelina Talbot is a member of the New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF) Senior Executive and Commander of the Transformation Office.

Gelina has served in the NSWPF for over 30 years, making significant contributions to front line policing, community safety and crime prevention in various metropolitan, regional, and rural communities. In 2008 she was seconded to the NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet as a senior project officer for Crime Prevention Partnerships and has utilised that experience to work closely with the NSW Government, NGOs, and diverse communities to implement successful crime prevention and diversionary programs across NSW.

On return to the NSWPF, Gelina progressed through several HR specialist roles before returning to operational front-line policing and being appointed to the rank of Superintendent. As Superintendent she has been the Commander of the Barwon (Western Region), Green Valley and Liverpool Police Area Commands and received, whilst at Barwon, the NSWPF Commissioner’s Perpetual Award for advancement of Women in Policing – Dynamic Leader Award for her leadership and police response to large scale mining and coal seam gas protests.

In 2017, Gelina performed the role of Human Resource Commander during significant organisational reengineering and structural reform, and in 2018 was appointed to the NSWPF Senior Executive as Commander, Professional Standards Command (PSC), a specialist command responsible for setting and embedding professional standards for performance, conduct and integrity. As PSC Commander she drove significant cultural change across the NSWPF and developed the respectful workplace management framework and management model, ‘Speak Up’ program, and Safe Reporting and Advisory Unit as a discreet misconduct reporting unit for the organisation.

In February 2021, Assistant Commissioner Talbot was appointed Commander for Capability, Performance (CPYC) and Youth Command, and Chief Risk Officer. At CPYC she undertook the Corporate Sponsor roles for Youth, Crime Prevention and Sexuality, Gender Diversity, and Intersex, and in 2022 was awarded the AWEI Australian LGBTQ Executive Leader award. Whilst at CPYC Gelina served on the PCYC Executive Board and Youth Justice Service Young Offenders Review Panel.

In February 2022, Assistant Commissioner Talbot was appointed to establish and lead the Transformation Office, with responsibility to design and manage keystone enterprise programs of significant organisational and government priority with key partners. Programs led and managed since 2022 include several large-scale digital transformation programs and the design of the current NSWPF Enterprise Operating Model.

Gelina holds a Masters and Graduate Diploma in Employee Relations, Bachelor of Policing, Associate Diploma in Policing and Public Administration, Graduate Certificate in Applied Management, Certificate in Risk Management and Governance and has completed the Executive Ethical Leadership through the Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership. With respect to her career, Gelina is inspired to ensure the NSW Police Force is ethically responsible, reflects the communities it serves and continues to deliver service excellence to the people of NSW.

Hi, I’m Alistair (They/Them)! I am a Wiradjuri queer nonbinary fulla. After completing my honours year in queer literature at the University of Canberra, I am now working at Australian National University as an Indigenous Academic Associate and studying my PhD in Queer Theory.

I also work as a graphic designer and visual artist by commission, I have worked with local ACT organisations and collectives such as ANU Litsoc, Aids Action Counsel, DEiFY, and the YWCA. I also am currently working with A Gender Agenda as Projects Coordinator, I also am a training facilitator with A Gender Agenda and engage with local organisations, schools, and businesses to provide 101 transgender, gender diverse, and intersex inclusivity training.

I’m passionate for all aspects of creative design; from traditional and digital art, to film and media production, and storytelling and writing. I’m particularly interested in activism and engagement for the LGBTQIA+ community and working with inclusive organisations.

In 2021 I was a Pinnacle scholar with the Pinnacle Foundation. In 2022 I was a 30U30 winner and Stand Out Student with Out for Australia.

Estelle is a Yorta Yorta, Wemba Wemba Trans Woman or Sistergirl. She was born in Boorloo on Noongar Whadjuk but has resided on Gadigal Country since 2015. In 2014 she was the Western Australian Young Person of the Year as well as a National Young People’s Human Rights Medal finalist

Corey is a proud GunaiKurnai, Boonwurrung and Wiradjuri man, living on Ngunnawal and Ngambri land in Canberra.

Corey’s advocacy journey began shortly after initiating his affirmation journey in 2017, experiencing the gaps in access to essential health care services, adequate policy and protections for Transgender and Gender non-conforming people and a significant lack of visibility and understanding for First Nations people. Most notably, just how difficult access to life saving gender affirming health care services are for people in  remote and regional areas.

In his day job, Corey is a Director at Deloitte leading the portfolio for Cloud Advisory in Government and the Public Sector, Corey is also a member of the Deloitte pride network “StandOUT” and involved in the Trans and Gender Diverse group in that network. Outside of work he is also a Director on the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras board and the first Indigenous full board Director in the history of the organisation.

Frances Gamble is the former Chief Executive Officer of Out for Australia, with more than 10 years of experience in the for-purpose sector. Out for Australia empowers LGBTQIA+ people to thrive at work in the formative stages of their career, and is known for running Australia’s largest LGBTQIA+ career mentoring program. Outside her role at Out for Australia, Frances works part-time with the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and lives on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. She has several tertiary qualifications, including a Master’s of Public Policy and Management. Her background is in policy, leadership, facilitation, marketing and wine studies.
