Data-Driven Regulation Conference
Harness the power of data-driven regulation for better decision making
The impact that data can have on regulatory work is endless, from being able to regulate better, measure impacts, and ultimately deliver better outcomes with insights from data. With a surplus of data and information available to regulators, it is critical for regulators to establish a data strategy, uplift their data capabilities, drive data literacy and build a data culture that changes the paradigm of being information rich and knowledge poor.
The 2nd edition of Data-Driven Regulation Conference is the only event for regulatory professionals across Australia and New Zealand to share best practice case studies as they explore how to leverage value from data to enhance strategic, operational, and tactical decision-making for regulatory excellence.

Closing remarks & close of Conference
How to build a data strategy for your team
Most regulators recognize the growing importance of data in informing risk-based decisions, as can be seen with the appointment of Chief Data Officers and departmental and agency data strategies. However, less emphasis has been placed on how individual business units and smaller teams should approach data strategically. This workshop is designed for leaders and members of business units, who are not experts in data management nor data analysis, that would like to build their own data strategies and their capacity for data-informed regulatory excellence.
Attend & learn
- Practical examples of how data can be used in support of a range of regulatory functions
- A framework for building a data strategy for your regulatory function
- An interactive workshop to get started on your data strategy

Exploring use cases for artificial intelligence in a regulatory function
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to delve into practical use cases of artificial intelligence in various regulatory functions. The examples come from the Government of Canada. The session focuses on the uses and limitations of artificial intelligence, rather than on the technical aspects of the data analytics, and is therefore intended for managers and team members of regulatory business units.
Attend & learn
- Practical examples of Artificial Intelligence (AI)in compliance promotion
- The use of AI in risk assessment, compliance verification/inspection, and regulatory evaluation/policy
- Live demos of some of the prototypes
