Ensuring Quality, Safety & Sustainability:

Transforming the NDIS

Enhancing quality outcomes for current and future NDIS recipients

Preparing Australia’s Disability Sector for the Future

As the completion of the government’s landmark review into the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the Disability Royal Commission nears, the disability sector is set to undergo major reform. The outcome of each is anticipated to have a profound impact on the overhaul of policies and practices relating to the quality, safety and sustainability of disability services.

The Hatchery’s Ensuring Quality, Safety and Sustainability: Transforming the NDIS Conference will bring together key leaders, advocates and providers from across the disability sector to explore solutions to the sector’s challenges. Unpack the impact of current reforms, including what the Royal Commission’s final report means for you with first hand insights from a Royal Commissioner, and learn from intersectional, lived-experience perspectives how you can keep consumers at the heart of NDIS service design and delivery.

Hear valuable insights and case studies from experts and NDIS providers on service design, quality, safety and sustainability, and be inspired by a shared commitment to drive better outcomes for NDIS participants as we look to the future.

Improving Risk Management: An early warning tool for auditing

Overview

For NDIS Providers, self-audit (and third-party) processes are at risk of becoming a ‘tick-the- box’ exercise. When a serious incident exposes system gaps or failings, questions are often asked as to why this was missed during an internal or third-party audit review. This workshop explains the intent of internal and external audit programs and how effective auditing can demonstrate compliance but also proactively identify gaps and issues.

Participants will be guided through a gap analysis to consider how they view the role of audit in their organisations and identify ways to realign and strengthen their auditing processes and provide assurance to key stakeholders of an effective governance system.

Why attend

  • Unpack the role of Quality audits of the NDIS Practice Standards from a provider, auditor, and regulator perspective
  • Interpret Quality standard and indicator requirements using a system approach.
  • Determine ways that audit processes could be used to review incidents and complaints for early warning signs of system gaps and issues.
  • Identify opportunities to refocus your audit program to become an effective tool in your governance program.
